Life is seen as a journey. We are all in the midst of a journey, searching for something.
What do we expect to gain from all the people we meet and the scenes we see and the things we encounter?
I have come to appreciate landscapes scenes. Not to merely reproduce them in bland images of what is there, but rather, to let the scene draw out and inspire what it is in life that we feel. These are the images that I aim to create.
To be human means being able to express things in an abstract manner. Then what is the sense of resisting that by drawing or painting pictures in
a completely straightforward, representational way? There are drawings
and paintings dating back 3,000 years, 2,000 years or 1,000 years, each
one of them recording a life lived in its own time and space.
To simply capture the "here and now" by recording it in a picture -- isn't
that the starting point of drawing and painting as an art?
It is not my intention to reproduce art for its own sake, or to draw for the
museum wall. Rather, my drawings are intended for the home,
a quiet space within the home where family gather and spend time in
serenity.
The works displayed are originals intended for limited edition prints
reproduction.
