As a restaurant that uses a vast range of products and services, we have been aggressive in trying to reduce the impact we have on the environment. For the past 12 years, Chef Karen Barnaby has spearheaded and maintained a kitchen recycling program second to none in the hospitality industry.
Celebrating your wedding with global awareness is a satisfying way to begin a life of commitment together and is a great opportunity for people to make choices that can effect change. Celebrate 'green' with us here at The Fish House in Stanley Park by reducing your ecological footprint.

Outdoor wedding Ceremonies in the Park
The ability to have an outdoor garden ceremony saves energy use in comparison to a large indoor venue, also preventing CO2 emissions by keeping your wedding festivities local and twithin walking distance to our reception venue
Local wedding suppliers' list
Local companies save CO2 emissions on travel for deliveries and pickups on rentals and services needed for your wedding needs
Paper table covers option
Linen uses large amounts of water, chemicals, and produces CO2 from frequent delivery to the restaurant. We have drastically reduced our footprint on our environment by covering our tables with recycled paper.

Guest Initiatives and Ideas to Help Celebrate a "Green" Wedding
Calculate the CO2 emitted as a result of your wedding and then apply credits to an offset project of choice.
Here's how it works: if you add polluting emissions to the atmosphere, you can effectively subtract them by purchasing 'carbon offsets'. Carbon offsets are simply credits for emission reductions achieved by projects elsewhere, such as wind farms, solar installations, or energy efficiency projects. By purchasing these credits, you can apply them to your own emissions and reduce your net climate impact (www.davidsuzuki.org).
Visit www.offsetters.ca to gain more information on a local offsetter company
Create computer generated e-invitations, or use 100% recycled paper invitations with a RSVP via e-mail
Use fuel efficient transportation or hybrid vehicles for your wedding party
Serve organic wine, beer and beverages
Wear a wedding dress made from hemp-silk or make alterations to a pre-owned dress
Choose a local beauty salon (or no salon) for preparation needs, and/or choose to wear organic makeup from local companies such as Accents Cosmetics
Use a local florist such as Capers for your flowers needs. They are locally grown and pesticide free.
Invite guests to give something ecologically constructive back to the world or a monetary contribution to an environmental group on your behalf as a wedding gift
