Frequently Asked Wedding Questions
1. I want to have an outdoor ceremony, do I need a permit?
Yes, we will assist with your permit application to Vancouver Parks and Recreation; a fee is involved and this needs to be done 3 months before your ceremony date.
2. What does the Fish House provide for an outdoor ceremony?
We provide a signing table and two chairs, and any items needed for food and beverage service.
3. What does the Fish House provide for an indoor ceremony?
We will provide the setup of chairs for your small ceremony if the space is available. A setup fee of $250.00 is applicable for indoor ceremonies?
4. Who will arrange and coordinate the outdoor ceremony setup, teardown etc?
All rentals, décor setup and teardown of outdoor ceremonies need to be arranged by the client or a third party.
5. Can I have alcoholic drinks served outside after the ceremony?
Yes a temporary permit can be obtained to do this. The cost for the permit application will have to be met by the client.
6. What does The Fish House include for the setup of our Reception?
We provide all of the basic event setup with tables, chairs, white linens, cutlery, crockery, glasses etc. Any specialty item's such as flower arrangements can be brought in by the client.
7. We want to have speeches; can you provide a PA and Microphone for this purpose?
Yes, we have a Powered Lecturnette that is available for speeches. Alternatively we can arrange to hire a PA system for your event. All of this equipment is available at an extra cost to the customer.
8. We want to decorate the room, are there any restrictions on décor?
No restrictions as long as the decorators do not use tacks, pins, staples or nails into our building interior or exterior. Please also refrain from using glues or double sided tape that may stick or deface any surfaces. All décor setup and removal must be conducted by the client within an agreed timeframe.
9. Can we have a live band or dancing?
Unfortunately as our establishment is open to the general public we do not allow live bands or dancing with loud music. If you buyout the entire restaurant then you are welcome to offer entertainment of this nature.
10. Can we bring our own wedding cake?
Yes you are most welcome to bring your wedding cake, we charge a cake plating fee of $1.95 per guest. We do have refrigeration space for your cake after it is delivered.
11. Can we bring our own alcohol?
Unfortunately; BC liquor law stipulates that all beverages must be supplied by our establishment.
